Luggage to be carried free of charge, pets’ ticket price cut

Starting from June 16, luggage tickets in Riga public transport will be only required for pets, unless they are carried in appropriate bags, boxes or in another appropriate way as hand luggage. The price of the pets’ ticket is cut from LVL 0.80 to LVL 0.70. The length of luggage allowed for transportation is also increased from 150 cm to 180 cm.

The regulations also set luggage transportation restrictions, e.g. it is forbidden to carry luggage with the total of sizes (length, height, width) exceeding 300 cm, as well as hand luggage with length exceeding 180 cm. Transportation of bicycles is also banned, like before.

The luggage transportation restrictions do not apply to technical auxiliary devices which ensure the movement of persons with functional disturbances, pregnant women, persons with little children and elderly persons, as well as one unit of sports equipment or a musical instrument, if technical capacities of the public transport vehicle allow it.
